About Joanne Ng

An Educator who understands Technology โ€” and a Technologist who never stopped being an Educator.

Joanne Ng is an Educator who understands Technology โ€” and a Technologist who never stopped being an Educator. For twenty-six years, she has stood at the intersection where teaching meets innovation: inside classrooms, inside staffrooms, and now at the frontier of artificial intelligence in Education.

She has watched educational technology evolve through every phase: from Computer-Assisted Education to EdTech to eLearning to AI-powered Knowledge Management. She has seen what works and what fails. She knows that the most powerful technology in the world is useless if teachers cannot or will not use it. And she knows that the best implementation strategy is not top-down mandate โ€” it is patient, practical, hands-on training that meets teachers where they are.

Joanne Ng is the founder of Awakening Brilliance, an education practice dedicated to bringing AI literacy to all Educators. She teaches from experience โ€” the kind that can only be earned by walking into hundreds of classrooms, training thousands of adults, and building systems that actually work.

The Educator โ€” Twenty-Six Years in Every Kind of Room

Joanne's teaching instinct showed early. Her first role was as a technical instructor for so-called 'lost teens' who needed patience, deep understanding, relevance, and belief. She spent six years in that world, and graduates still greet her warmly decades later. That is the mark of an educator who changes lives, not just delivers content.

For fifteen years, she served as a relief teacher and activity instructor across Singapore's schools. That meant walking into a new classroom often โ€” new students, new subjects, new staffroom cultures, new challenges. Most educators see a handful of schools in a career. Joanne saw dozens. She learned what makes a school thrive, what makes a teacher burn out, and what makes a child light up.

For ten more years, she trained working adults โ€” engineers, technicians, and corporate executives at engineering institutes and Multi-National Corporations. She mastered how grown-ups actually learn, change, and yes โ€” resist change.

It is a strategic advantage when designing training that must speak to everyone in a school โ€” from the hesitant veteran teacher to the eager young graduate to the sceptical operational staff.

The Technologist โ€” From Unix Systems to AI Platforms

Here is what you need to know: Joanne is not an educator who recently discovered technology. She is a technologist who never stopped being an educator.

She oversaw training for a thousand technicians at the Port of Singapore Authority โ€” one of the world's most technologically advanced port operations. She led training and marketing programmes at Siemens (Germany), Telemecanique (France), and CSA Automated, where she managed their Solaris Unix Training Centre. These were not soft-skills workshops. These were hard-technology environments where precision mattered, systems were complex, and failure was not an option.

She pursued a Master's degree in Business in Information Technology from RMIT. Her final project explored using virtual reality to change behaviour โ€” an education-technology vision more than two decades ahead of its time. While others were debating whether computers belonged in classrooms, Joanne was already imagining immersive learning environments.

Today, she leads hands-on AI-in-education workshops where teachers and school leaders do not just listen โ€” they build. She empowers participants to create their own ready-to-use AI tools within three hours. Not templates. Not demos. Real tools they can take back to their classrooms on Monday morning. And she does this without writing a single line of code herself, using a powerful AI technology that has made AI easy and accessible to non-technical users.

The Easy Bridge to AI for Teachers

Joanne & her team of Trainers did not grow up with Python programming language. This makes her uniquely credible. She does not teach from the engineer's perspective, she teaches from the learner's perspective, walking beside them.

She also built a live learning platform without writing a line of code. That is not a small achievement. It demonstrates that she understands how modern no-code and AI tools can be combined to create real systems โ€” and that she can teach others to do the same. She is showing them how to leverage AI to do more of what they already do best.

All workshops at AwakeningBrilliance.com share the same design philosophy: easy to understand, immediately applicable, and focused on outcomes, not theory. They leave with tools they have already built and tested.

The Mission โ€” AI Serves Teachers, Not Replaces Them

Joanne's message is the same in every room, whether she is speaking to nursery teachers or corporate executives: AI is not here to replace teachers or take jobs. It is here to handle the paperwork, the processes, and the repetitive tasks โ€” with precision and efficiency โ€” so teachers gain back the time to do what only they can do: connect with every child.

“AI is not here to replace teachers. It is here to give them back the time to teach.” โ€” Joanne Ng
